Cost of Argentine Citizenship by Investment: USD 350,000 Contribution or USD 800,000 Bond

When families ask me about Argentina, the first question is always the price. Here is what the Ministry of Economy announced on 2 October 2026, and what it did not say. I also compared it with the calculator on the BRIDGES programme page.
Option 1: contribution to the Treasury
A direct, non-refundable contribution of USD 350,000 to the National Treasury. The money does not come back. According to the government, the funds go to strengthening the fiscal and financial position of the country.
Option 2: the public security
The subscription of a USD 800,000 public security “created specifically for this programme”. The announcement adds only that it is subject to the applicable regulatory conditions. BRIDGES writes that the security is held for seven years and that the coupon, the redemption currency and the family amounts under this option will be known only when the issue terms are published. I could not find those terms in the official sources on 30 October 2026.
Family members
| Who | Contribution |
|---|---|
| Main applicant | USD 350,000 (or the USD 800,000 security) |
| Spouse | USD 100,000 |
| Child aged 18 to 25, single and without children | USD 100,000 |
| Child under 18 | USD 25,000 |
The government’s own example: a main applicant, a spouse and two minor children apply for USD 500,000 in total. Each family member has to prove the relationship.
What is not in these numbers
- Government and due diligence fees: not announced.
- Translation, apostille and legal support: separate costs.
- The BRIDGES fee: not published, agreed before the start.
- Bank costs of the transfer: all funds must go through the formal financial system.

How the money moves
The announcement is clear that every payment goes through regulated banks and has to meet anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing standards. In practice this means the source of the money is checked before the money itself. I always start with the source of funds file, because a strong file shortens every later step. The checks are described in the process guide.
Contribution or security?
For most families I would look at the contribution first: it is cheaper by USD 450,000 for a single applicant and its terms are clear. The security only makes sense once the issue terms are public and you can compare the real return with the risk of a seven-year holding. Until then it is a number, not a product.
Questions and answers
What does a family of four pay?
USD 500,000 under the contribution option: USD 350,000 for the main applicant, USD 100,000 for the spouse and USD 25,000 for each of two children under 18.
Is the contribution refundable?
No. The Ministry of Economy calls it a direct and non-refundable contribution to the National Treasury.
What are the bond terms?
Not published. The government only said the USD 800,000 security is created for the programme and subject to its regulatory conditions. BRIDGES reports a seven-year holding period.
Are parents included?
The announcement mentions only the spouse and children. BRIDGES states that parents are not included.
